Political Hope

After 200 years, our political system is finally taking an important step forward.  At this point, it is clear to most people that our stagnant two party system is breaking down and can no longer move forward.  It would be nice to see a new party that could break the stalemates that have frequented Washington for decades.  We are now seeing what I believe is the begining of the creation of that third party (I don’t consider the “tea party to be a separate party because they are obviously just an extreme side of the republican party).  Americans Elect is a relatively new movement that appears to look to shift us from a republic to a true democracy.  Americans Elect aims at providing an American nominee to be put on the presidential ballot, nominated by the American people for the presidency instead of having the large lobbied parties choose who leads.
The American people will now have a hearable voice.  Currently, the way the system works is that the people elect a representative and that representative votes for a leader based on what they feel is best.  This is the very reason, up till now, that I don't vote. Up till now the individual vote didn't count, we saw this in the 2004 elections.  I firmly believe that we will see an overwhelming number of votes for the candidate that comes out of this new quasi party and will get policies more reflective of what the people actually want instead of getting what we are told we want by businesses with well-funded lobbies.  Please go to http://www.americanselect.org and think it over (I have not been paid by anyone for this endorsement, I just think this is a great idea).
Still undecided, check out their interview with Steven Colbert.
